What Games Lovers feel about Joy-Con mouse controls playing Medroid Prime 4: Beyond

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond 2025

What Games Lovers feel about Joy-Con mouse controls.

What people think about usage of Joy-Con Mouse controls. Different views of users who play Metroid Prime 4 Beyond are here.

Medroid Prime 4: Beyond

One of the player is of the view that he needs to get some kind of grip for the Joy-Cons.  He had to stop using mouse mode after 30 minutes.

A player tells that he is not a fossil yet bro He is 21, joy con is just too thin to be comfortable like that.

A game lover of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond likes it as an on-demand option (which works really well in Prime 4), but he would want some sort of a grip Q for dedicated mouse use.

A game player thinks it’s because one need to grip it so far up to use the buttons, if he could hold it from the back it wouldn’t be a problem.

One of the players bought the killswitch joycon grips on their own and they’re a game changer! So comfortable for mouse mode too.

A player says that he is 32, grew up with Nintendo's old handhelds, and he also thinks Joy-Cons are terrible. Granted the Switch 2 Joy-Cons are much better than the original ones and are actually usable, but he never be able to play as well with them as they still don't feel as comfortable as a Pro Controller. He also does not see the point of mouse mode with Joy-Cons when anyone can use gyro aim with a Pro Controller. Like a mouse is a little better than gyro, but not by nearly enough to give up having better sticks and ergonomics. The Joy-Cons are still only relegated to handheld play for him, and I'll probably get a grip case eventually to make it more comfortable.

One of the user Metroid Prime 4: Beyond says that he is using the Mumba mouse grip found on some website, pretty comfortable.

It's possible to rest your thumb in a way that lines up comfortably with a face button, but otherwise he would recommend using the right stick click and SL/SR remapping for the face buttons and just gritting your teeth for the fourth face button option

He already find it pretty uncomfortable as it is, he has a little 3d printed base for it which helps. Most likely, because it's seamless, He will be using normal controls most of the time, and when there's psychic abilities and things like that, he will switch to mouse.

One of the players tells it as a Good idea with utiliziling SL/SR on left Joy Con.

He would have preferred mouse control to work like normal (instantly pan the camera, crosshair stays fixed in center). Instead it works like gyro aiming does (move crosshair to side of screen to pan camera).

Gyro aiming needs to keep the right joystick available. He kept wanting to hit the stick to turn quickly. No idea why it needed to be an either-or option.

One of the player of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond wonders why Nintendo hasn't released a proper mouse yet. It's just a matter of time. It would be a nice accessory. Maybe they are waiting for more games that use mouse mode to come out?

Personally he is not digging that much because holding Joy-Con as a mouse, makes pressing face buttons rather difficult, and since morph ball and scanning is on Y and X, it's quite painful to play.

Motion control (either split Joy-Con or Pro controller) on the other hand feels more intuitive.

The Pro 2 controller is great for a user so far!

One player quite likes mouse mode, but only in fights sequence, otherwise he is using motion.

One says that it’s perfect for him.

It’s perfectly comfortable for him and works fantastically in sofa no matter in what peculiar way he is sprawling on it.

He wouldn’t want to play anything without it anymore! Having a mouse with haptic feedback is just pure joy for him.

I just got the first major quest item and so far been playing with the mouse controls at his gaming desktop with a capture card. Overall pretty great. But he can't imagine not having a desk for these kinds of controls

One individual says that it feels good. I think the main issue is finding a comfortable place to use the joy con mouse. The obvious place would be just to sit at a desk. But if you want to play on a large tv that isn't really an option. For him, he found what has worked is just using the joy con mouse on the arm rest of his recliner. Interesting thing is unlike a mouse it actually works quite well.

I like the control it provides, but the physical joycon just doesn't feel enough like an actual mouse. I'm hoping some third party like 8bitdo or a similar company will make a joycon with a mouse-like form factor.

The fact you can't use the left joycon as a mouse is ridiculous and completely destroys the functionality for him.

A player shared his experience. He tried mouse mode during the first boss and it crammed his hands so much in such a short time span. He has been using mouse mode with Plants Vs Zombies Replanted just fine, but when it's a first person game the joycon feels way too thin for a mouse.

One game lover says that Mouse mode was absolutely horrible.

A player of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond hate using mouse controls for shooters. Too bad it doesn't support Wiimotes. Prime 3 had the best controls.

One person was actually just thinking about mouse controls today. He will admit he doesn’t use them despite finding the idea of it appealing in certain use cases so this may be the reason behind his random thought today. He has noticed a pattern occurring when games get updated to a Switch 2 edition. Often enough he has seen games with free Switch 2 updates that just consist of a resolution/frame rate bump offer a free Switch 2 Upgrade Pack or simply a free update with the improvements baked in.

However, just as often (IMO) he is seeing games release with a paid path with the resolution/frame rate bump with nothing additional other than mouse controls, attempting to justify the paid upgrade. He is aware there are some exceptions but this does not distract from the pattern. Metroid P4 is actually a prime example of this, no pun intended. He feels like mouse controls are being used as a means to charge more when it’s a feature likely many don’t necessarily even care about.

One says that a mouse grip is a big plus. Highly recommended.

One of the players has not used them at all. He likes that it exists as an option, but if a game is going to need a mouse, he will just play it on PC. Doesn’t seem very comfortable or practical for a portable device.

One game lover really likes it but he ordered a base for it because the strap gets on his nerves.

One player shared that he is not going to play this game at a desk, so mouse controls are kind of meaningless.

One player says that he is yet to try out the mouse controls, but he does know that fps games are best played with mice since it allows for more precise aiming without the use of aim assist.

One player experienced that he does not use them. He is playing on a pro controller with regular motion/RS aim.

One person says that he played a Lot of my 50 hours Cyberpunk playthrough with Mouse controls and it feels really close to PC for him. Finally a console where first Person / Shooter Games feel good on.

The joycon is small and it took a while to hold it so it does Not wobble around (Attachments would definelty help) but after the Initial adjustment it's great. Can't wait to play RE Requiem on the Switch. Sometimes in bed in Handheld Mode and Sometimes with Mouse.

The mouse mode isn't really sensitive enough for him, but that's possibly because he used to high DPS on PC. Also there's no way to invert the y-axis for mouse mode, which also makes it completely unusable for me. I'm hoping that's the kind of stuff that'll get better over time, but for now it's really disappointing.

One says that he hates the default buttons during Mouse Mode (shoot with A and visor with X), it just cramps his thumb and half of his hand. lol BUT it lets you remap the entire button scheme so now he has it to shoot with ZR and visor with L, which is more natural/intuitive.

So now it works pretty well and swapping to Motion Control is just the perfect combination.

Joycon as a mouse is a nice party trick, but just let us plug in a real mouse already!

Had fun playing with the control options today. Never really had any experience with any Metroid Prime games before.

Mouse mode was okay, but it’s a bit rough from a couch. It’s very surreal for the mouse to turn your character and then you naturally lift it off its pad to give yourself space to turn again. It feels like you remove barriers to enjoying the game, it’s just a more natural way of aiming for a game like this. But even though it’s more natural for aiming and turning, holding the joy con as a mouse isn’t that comfortable, especially when you’re trying to access the buttons on the face of joy con as well.

And then he tried Pro Controller with the Gyro last, and it just feels better in your hand. So he is going to stick with that for this game. He sets gyro to 80 percent for both x and y and it feels really good there.

He felt the best option is the traditional controls and then go into the settings and then enable Gyro for that mode. This makes the game play similar to how Splatoon plays. The alternative gyro only mode feels a bit awkward to control. It just felt imprecise the way the character turns and he always wants to use the joy stick to correct that but it doesn’t do anything in that mode. Traditional controls with gyro enabled has the game feeling very precise.

He thinks mouse mode works except the face buttons are too high for your thumb to reach in a comfortable position. They have two options…worse option is make the left joycon the mouse, and the better option is patch the R stick to be the face buttons. Tilt left for A down for B etc. mouse mode is comfortable when your thumb sits lower on the joycon.

Features Metroid Prime 4: Beyond 2025

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launched on December 4, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and the newer Nintendo Switch 2, offering staggered unlocks across time zones, with North American players starting slightly earlier on December 3rd, making it a highly anticipated release on both systems.

Beyond moves the action to a new alien world named Planet Viewros, which features larger, more open environments connected by a central desert, Sol Valley. New mechanics include psychic abilities for puzzle-solving and combat, and a vehicle called the Vi-O-La bike for faster traversal of large areas.

A lot of people have praised the game as "gorgeous," "highly entertaining," and having some of the best action in the series, with excellent boss battles and intricate world design.

But on the other hand, some of the people was stuck between old and new ideas, criticized "overly aggressive handholding," and found the new open areas and non-player characters (NPCs) to be a mixed bag.

KNOW ABOUT CHEATS IN VIDEO GAMES

DO YOU KNOW WHAT ARE CHEATS IN VIDEO GAMES

These days, a lot of people like video games to play but some of the players, being fresher, do not know about game strategies.

In video games, a cheat is any method a player uses to gain an unfair advantage beyond normal gameplay, typically to make the game easier or to gain an edge over other players in a multiplayer setting. Cheats can be implemented as official cheat codes by game developers or as unofficial hacks and exploits created by players or third parties.

CHEATS

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Types of Cheats:

Cheat Codes:

These are often official codes or button sequences that can be entered into the game to modify gameplay, such as granting invincibility, infinite ammo, or skipping levels.

Hacks and Exploits:

These involve modifying the game's code or exploiting bugs to achieve an unfair advantage, such as wallhacks, aimbots, or other modifications.

Modifications:

These are changes made to the game's files or structure, often involving community-made mods that alter gameplay or introduce new features.

AI-assisted cheats:

Some cheats involve using AI to assist with aiming, navigating, or even controlling the game.

Here are some examples of Cheat Types:

Wallhacks:

Allow players to see through walls and locate opponents or objects they should not be able to see.

Aimbots:

Automatically aim at opponents, giving the player an unfair advantage.

Triggerbots:

Automatically fire weapons when the target is in the crosshairs.

ESP (Extra Sensory Perception):

Provide players with on-screen visuals revealing information about the game, such as enemy positions or loot locations.

Level skipping:

Allow players to bypass certain levels in the game, making progression faster.

Infinite ammo:

Give players unlimited ammunition.

Invincibility:

Make the player immune to damage.

Speed hacks:

Increase the player's speed or movement.

Reasons for Cheating:

Making the game easier:

Cheats can reduce the difficulty of a game, allowing players to progress faster or complete tasks that would otherwise be challenging.

Gaining an edge in multiplayer:

Cheats can give players an unfair advantage in competitive multiplayer games, allowing them to win or outperform other players.

Desire to experience the game differently:

Some players may use cheats to experiment with different game mechanics or to experience aspects of the game that would otherwise be unavailable.

Personal satisfaction:

Some players may use cheats to feel a sense of accomplishment or to achieve goals that they would otherwise be unable to achieve.
